Microdermabrasion is where the outter most layer of the skin is removed by light abrasion. It helps to remove sun-damaged skin and to lessen the appearance of scars and dark spots on the skin. The procedure isn’t painful and requires no anaesthetic. You can get it done at many day spas, medical spas and doctors surgeries.

It will work on on scars sit above the surrounding skin, but it doesn’t work so well on sunken and deep scars. Also, microdermabrasion doesn’t really stimulate collagen formation, it only works on the outter layers of the skin.

It can cost anywhere between £65-150 per session. But this depends on the length of the session, the work needed and of course how good the place is.
