What is this desktop software called?

On most new laptops like HP, at the desktops they have this little software that looks like the dashboard of a car, telling how much percentage the comps using and stuff. its like the little “RPM” guages on the car and the red needle goes up when more cpu is used. Can I download this or is it specifically made for HP?

This sounds like a sidebar gadget for vista. It is a resource monitor, and you can only use it on windows vista sidebar. If you use vista, go to the sidebar, add gadgets, and it will be there, just add it in, et voila…
